Users must modify the volume level for their specific applications. The standard used to govern volume measurements over the phone is the dBm (a measured power level in decibels relative to 1 milliwat (1 mW), and most countries restrict phone line audio levels to -10 dBm (-16 dB Sound Forge normalization level). Since Sound Forge uses dBs (decibels) to measure their recordings, the dB level would be 6 less than the dBm level (-10 dBm = -16 dB).
Intervoice recommends that you keep normalization levels below -18 dB (-12 dBm phone level).
